To keep your dog safely contained, SpotOn uses GPS data from four satellite systems to create, control, and maintain your dog’s fences. This means you can use SpotOn’s fences without a cellular subscription or a Bluetooth connection.
The optional cellular subscription enables your SpotOn collar to communicate with your smartphone at long distances, so you can keep tabs on your dog from anywhere. Especially useful if your fence is large, you can see your dog’s location at the touch of a button. The cellular subscription also enables notifications when your battery is low as well as alerts and automatic real-time tracking if your dog leaves his fence so you can be reunited as soon as possible! SpotOn’s cellular plans start at $5.95 per month. Learn more here.
The SpotOn app uses your phone’s Bluetooth to connect to the collar for creating fences, adjusting collar settings and training your dog. To connect, make sure the phone is within a few feet of the collar. Similar to other Bluetooth devices like speakers, Bluetooth has a range of about 50 feet. Once connected if the collar is more than 50 feet away from the phone, then Bluetooth will disconnect.
