Absolutely. Including your home in the boundary ensures that your dog can leave and return to the house with freedom.
When you include your home in the boundary, it is EXTREMELY important to set up a home zone in the app. This is because a Home Zone will help protect your dog from unwanted alerts and corrections.
Home Zones allow you to designate an area around your home where corrections are disabled, so your dog can enter and exit the zone freely while reducing the risk of a false correction. To create a Home Zone, please do the following:
After you create a fence, navigate to the "Fences" screen and select the related fence. Select "Edit Fence or Zones."
Towards the top center of the screen, you will see the option to select "boundary" or "zones". Select the zones option, click the + icon on the right-hand side, and select "Home Zone."
Follow the in-app instructions to create a Home Zone around your house.
Home Zones work best at least 30 feet from your fence boundary. Significant tree coverage around the home, between the door where the dog exits, and a close boundary can present a challenge.
Home Zones may not fully eliminate false corrections if your home has a metal roof or has a particularly thin roof. If your collar is still experiencing alerts or corrections indoors after setting a Home Zone, please reach out to customer support at support@spotonfence.com or 603.488.1504.
