Extended Battery Life Mode helps your collar last longer between charges by reducing cellular tracking activity while your dog is safely inside the fence.
When this mode is enabled, your dog's location updates every 20 minutes instead of letting you manually refresh their location while they’re inside the fence. If your dog leaves the boundary, live tracking automatically activates so you can track their location.
Understanding the Trade-Offs
When you activate this mode, you must be aware of the following functionality trade-offs:
Unavailable Features: Manual tracking, location refresh, call dog, and remote light capabilities are unavailable in this mode. However, the dog's location is updated every 10 minutes while inside the fence.
Real-Time tracking starts automatically if the dog breaches the fence.
Bluetooth Requirement: Activation and deactivation of Extended Battery Life Mode requires a Bluetooth or WiFi connection, so you need to be within range of the collar to switch modes.
How to access Extended Battery Life Mode
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION
Extended battery life is automatically applied to collars without an active tracking subscription. There’s nothing you need to update, turn on, or manage.
IF YOU HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION
With an active tracking subscription, you can choose when to use Extended Battery Life Mode. Make sure you have the latest version of the SpotOn GPS Fence app, then follow these steps:
1. Open the SpotOn GPS Fence app. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and you're within range of your collar.
2. Go to the Collar Setting.
3. Find Extended Battery Life Mode and togglie it on.
You can toggle Extended Battery Life Mode on or off at any time based on your tracking needs.

Q: What if I don't update my collar software?
If you don't update your collar software to version 1.5.0.0 or above, you won't be able to use the Extended Battery Life Mode.
Q: What app version do I need?
You need to have app version 1.4.25 or above to use the Extended Battery Life Mode.
Q: Will I still get escape notifications in Extended Battery Life Mode?
Yes, real-time tracking and notifications will start if the dog leaves the fence. In addition, your dog's location on the track screen will be updated every 20 minutes while it’s inside the fence.
Q: How do I revert to the regular mode?
To switch back to the regular mode, simply toggle off the Extended Battery Life Mode in the Collar Settings while in Bluetooth range of the collar (30 feet).
Q: Can this feature be used with all versions of SpotOn
Yes, Extended Battery Life Mode is compatible with all revisions of the SpotOn collar. However, the runtime will be longer for customers who own collar versions 40 and above. See the label on the back of your collar to determine the version.
